Our Services

Socio-economics

Socio-economics

Our socio-economic centre brings together economists, economic geographers, data scientists and natural capital specialists with technical and policy experts from across Logika Group.

We apply quantitative and qualitative methods, including cost-benefit, cost-effectiveness, break even and multi criteria analysis, using bespoke models in line with relevant technical guidance.

Application of Expertise

We apply our socio-economic analysis expertise in market assessment, impact assessment, options assessment and policy evaluation. This includes valuing health and environmental goods and services alongside the economic and social effects of government policy, policy options or proposed policy action.

Better Design

By assessing the geographic, sectoral and demographic impacts on jobs, economic sectors and on wider economic competitiveness, our assessments identify – where relevant – both the overall balance of costs and benefits, together with their distribution to draw out underlying trade offs. This leads to better design, buy-in and durability.

Population Impact

From employment opportunities, local services and housing supply, to tourism, leisure and amenity, developments can impact local, regional and national populations in a range of ways. Our experienced socio-economics team uses a suite of qualitative and quantitative methods to build a complete picture of the impacts of developments on the population.

Impact Assessments

Socio-economic impact assessments enable a deeper understanding of the impacts of a new development upon communities, organisations and local economics. Economically, they provide an overview of how investment, expenditure, employment and supply chain activity could influence output. Socially, assessments uncover how change could affect daily life, identity, safety and access for those in the locality.

Employment, Population and Services

Our experts help you understand the jobs a proposal might create and the skills it might require; how policies or developments could impact housing demand, availability and affordability; and the effects on services such as healthcare, education and community facilities.

Equality and Accessibility

Our in-depth analysis shows how benefits and burdens may vary across locations and population groups, identifying communities which may be more exposed or less able to adapt. We assess how proposals could impact access to jobs, services, education and public spaces – identifying practical ways to create wider benefits through social value strategies.
